Burg Kreuzenstein, Austria

4 May 2020

A hike from Leobendorf to Korneuburg, past Burg Kreuzenstein, through the forest, and along the Danube. Wonderful things to see along the way!

The first view of Burg Kreuzenstein from Leobendorf.

Up the hill at the castle, rebuilt in the 19th century on the ruins of what was originally a 12th century caste. A jewel!

Some beautiful blooming chestnut trees nearby.

Hitching a ride. They were actually moving quite fast, couldn't get a sharp image unfortunately...

Another pretty bug. Look at those antennae!

Then through an eerily beautiful forest. These pictures don't really do it justice. Like another world...

I'm not enough of a birder to know what species this is. Some sort of hawk I assume.

Then along the Danube.

And finally through the Korneuburg wetlands.

There were lots of frogs croaking loudly here. Was able to catch a few of them on camera.

Look at the pretty green stripe on the back of the little one!
